What Time Does Judge Mathis Come on Today

Judge Mathis (TV Series 1998– ) Poster

Likable court show

I don't watch "Judge Mathis" all the time, but if I'm flipping channels and I come across it, I usually watch what's going on in the particular episode. The main reason why I enjoy watching it is Judge Mathis himself. He comes across as a very intelligent person, having been around the block many times and admitting the mistakes he made as a youth. Also, unlike many TV judges, he has a wicked sense of humor that I admit that I find amusing at times.

To some degree, I can understand many of the criticisms the show gets from people who don't like it. Unlike cases that take place in real courtrooms, the discipline and rule-following on the show is often very casual, with stuff happening that would never be tolerated in a real courtroom. Also, Mathis often bring things to a halt by telling stories or revealing his politics. But people have to remember this is a television show and is meant to be ENTERTAINING. And the people who appear on the show no doubt know that Mathis does thing his way. If the show were run like a real courtroom, it would likely be very dull. If you want to see a court case done with proper rules and procedures, visit your local courthouse.

Scripted?

Let's say judge Mathis is 100% legit.

He is one of the most chilled and empathized judges of all time. I'll choose him over judge Judy any day.

Overall like all court shows. It's still filled with boring and stupid people.

Skip.

Nice show and most of the time a fair and decent Judge

Do you ever get tired of the constant parade of really really FAT black women always in your court? I mean so fat they are bigger than the doors that they come in. It is disgusting seeing these women (some white) walk in suing men much thinner. What in hell did these men ever see in these women? I find it hard to watch, not by your ruling, but the ugly people that you have to face.

Today (6/15/15) the one suing another for a laptop was so ugly and such a nasty gossip I wanted to slap her face. All she did was knock the other woman's life style, raising of her children, being an alcoholic and on and on before she mentioned a laptop. The other lady just listened to her rantings and gossip.

Sorry to have to say these things.

A n entertaining, and inspiring court show.

Judge Msathis, is one of the court TV shows, broadcast during the afternoon hours, on weekdays. Judge Gregg Mathis is an ex-con, who often got in trouble as a kid, in his native Detroit neighborhood. Seeoing how his law-breaking had distressed his mother, he decided to turn his life around. So he attended college, law school, and eventually became a judge.

Judge Mathis is not a stuffy, uptight judge. His style is leavened with humorous banter, withe litigants in his courtroom. Many of the litigants, appreciate the fact the Judge Mthis has a sense of humor. He's a big guy, with an imposing presence. So his humor puts the litigants at ease.

Judge Mathis also identifies with many of his litigants, who frequently are ex-cons, ex-addicts, or have otherwise been in trouble with the law. His keen street-smarts, are utilized to help him make his judgments that are fair, and just.

Judge Mthis also encourages some his litigants that are troubled, to change their lives for the better, through education, pr drug re-hab, if they need it. The litigants take his advice seriously, since Judge Mathis has been where many of them have been, and so he comes off as being for real.

On the whole, this is one of better court TV programs. Judge Mathis is a caring, credible judge, who is dedicated to 'gibing back' to the community, and encourages wayward litigants to improve their loves. So Judge Mathis is not just entertaining, but he sets a positive example, that others can look up to for guidance.

According to him everyone's on crack

I'm so sick of all the crack jokes. If crack is apart of the case I understand but usually it's not. Watching him is demeaning to people in general. He tries to start stuff between the litigants. Sometime I wonder if he's on crack. He does the motion like he's stirring up the batch. Not professions at all. I'm watching this with my husband. If I continue I may end up on crack.I wish I could give a negative 5 star.

Fake and scripted

Seriously! Why! Just plain lazy to hire actors and write scripted cases than to get real small claims cases heard.

Mathis seems like a likable guy but the show plays out like a bad standup routine.

No thanks.

Judge Mathis is a GOOD Man and Entertaining Show

I agree with the poster who said you can't write this comedy. The jokes come straight from the horse's mouth, out of left field, just when you least expect them.

I get more laughs from a single show than from some entire series of some comedies, and even some that I enjoyed.

Typical exchange:

Judge: You're suing for defamation. Plaintiff: Yes, your honour, she told people that I was dating a hermaphrodite, and that I only started professional wrestling so that I could rub up against men. Judge: Do you have proof that this damaged your career. Plaintiff: Not really. I ... I'm not allowed to wrestle anymore in Kentucky...

Although the Judge does have a weakness for picking fun at some of these ridiculous people (how could you resist ?) he does have a heart, and makes a point to provide a moral centre to the show.

Well done.

Terrible judge, boring show

Judge Mathis is like one of those drunks who sit around all day and tell his whole life story. Only difference, Mathis does it all the time and it becomes boring. He's also unkind and mean and disrespectful. He behaves like a thug from the street.

Avoid this show and watch judge ross

Get a life and stop watching this crap

This show has nothing to do with law or justice. Some government agency needs to put a stop to these mud-slinging contests pretending to be the legal system in action. Basically, the "judge" allows the opponents to slander each other for a few minutes and then declares a victor without ever being presented with a shred of real evidence that is relevant to the "trial". The last straw for me was watching a woman who evicted a tenant. The landlord was being denied damages because the tenant called her a low life of some sort and the judge took one look at her and agreed. What just happened? People actually watch this going on and return to watch it again? Get a life, people.

Ignorant, racist, unprofessional

Judge Mathis is so busy telling his audience his self-pitying life story for the zillionth time, pushing his pro-BLM, hateful, racist, misogynist views ad nauseum, it's a bore-fest. Like Judge Judy, he ridicules and attacks litigants, talking over them, screaming at them, cutting them off and makes it very clear that he rules, based on his own prejudices & not on the facts of the cases before him. Especially upsetting is his joking about & promoting the use of drugs. For anyone who's lost a loved one to the use of drugs, this is unforgivable. Judge Mathis definitely sends mixed messages. He seems too eager to boast about his "street cred," bragging about his early participation in gang/criminal activity and his current empathy & implied approval of this mentality. I think his is a dangerous show.

Entertaining

Warning: Spoilers

Unlike a lot of other judge and jury shows this one feels more welcoming. Judge Mathis is my favorite judge to watch on TV. Unlike the people's court or judge Judy judge Mathis likes to get along with both the defendant as well as the prosecutor. While some may see that as not doing his job, I enjoy it because on both this show as well as the people's court the judge gets to the bottom of the case. Judge Mathis is the only court room show that I have ever watched where the clients are allowed to argue with each other. Which I also think is great cause some times while there arguing in the heat of the moment somebody will drop a piece of information that they left out of there story. This proves not only to judge Mathis but to us as the audience as well who is wrong in that situation. Overall I would definitely recommend judge Mathis to anyone who loves to watch a good court room debate.

One of the best of Court TV

Warning: Spoilers

I have great respect for Matthis and his story, most cases he rules fairly, but most court shows are guilty of some biases. In Matthis' case, he is sometimes sexist in his rulings. When a man owes a woman money, it's almost always assumed that it was a loan. When a woman owes a man money, it's almost always assumed as a gift from the man unless he has mountains of evidence. This is a problem with society not just the judges personally, but they should be above these kind of biases and I feel most of them are guilty of it.

Even when a woman has no evidence that a man owed her the money as a loan, they will say something very sexist such as 'Don't you think you owe it to her to man up'

I guess being a man means any time you help someone else out it's supposed to be for free..

Used to be a fan

I used to be a fan of the show, since it premiered. Lately, I've stopped watching completely, because of Judge Mathis calling guests "ugly". Even in jest, it is extremely cruel and unfair to attack someone's physical appearance. It is also completely non-constructive.

Judge Mathis used to represent the power of personal transformation. If I have issues with integrity, I can work to develop empathy and honesty. If I have problems with criminal behavior, I can start trying to walk the straight and narrow. If I'm struggling with addiction, I can go into recovery. If I'm uneducated, I can enroll in school or a training program. If I'm unemployed, I can be more diligent in my job hunting. What shall I do if I'm ugly? What can I do? This is a cheap insult utilized by school yard bullies, when they have nothing else to criticize. The word is also very triggering for victims of bullying.

If this is the best that the judge can come up with nowadays, perhaps this show has run it's course. I, for one, will no longer be a viewer.

Judge Mathis sucks

He used to be a nice guy, but he acts like a Jag-Off these days.

The cases are stupid and drug out. He thinks he's funny and he's not. He's been acting smart lately. I used to look forward to seeing this show, but it sucks now.

Judge Mathis Sucks(Sometimes)

I enjoy Judge Mathis and the other judges, but I watch Judge Mathis mostly because I think he is so handsome. However I do not like it when he assumes that people are "crackheads" or in gangs. Sometimes there are people on the show who really are on drugs and in gangs, and then judge Mathis gets on his high horse and criticizes them, and then in the same breath admits to doing those EXACT same things before he became a judge. I think that if he didn't know that his mom was going to die, he would still be into the same things. He also makes comments about the women, which would be borderline sexual harassment in my book. He is at times very arrogant, however there are times when he does make good points and sometimes has compassion for the guests on the show. There was one show during the first season where he was in tears because there was a guy who was into gangs but turned his life around, yet his family still were dwelling on his past after he had made up for his wrong-doings by helping his family out. I commend Judge Mathis, for getting out of the stereotypical trap and getting his G.E.D and then going to college. His story shows that ANYBODY can get back on their feet and make a difference.

Great Reality Court Show!!!!!!

Judge Mathis is the best! He always makes me laugh, because he goes off tangent sometimes when dealing with a case. He'll ask some awkward questions that aren't relevant to the case. But who cares. He has a good sense of humor, and listens to both sides of the case. Unlike those other court shows like Judge Judy who gets mad for the stupidest little things. Judge Mathis doesn't get mad if even the defendant interrupts, and is very funny. He is also fair and caring towards both parties when it comes to his final judgment of a case. If you don't have the evidence, he will of course have to dismiss your claim. But then again any judge would do the same.

This judge is rude and obnoxious

This is my 2nd time watching this show with my mom and this judge is so rude and unprofessional. I find it very hard to believe that this guy is an actual judge. He has no idea how to talk to people. You can talk to people and get the answers you need without sounding so rude and condescending. He asks questions and rudely interrupts with his own opinions before anyone can even finish. People just watch to see how rude he is instead of trying to actually get the whole story and judge from there. What a dumb show.

Surprise Ending

On yesterday's episode, he told a lady to "get the hell out" of his courtroom. The plaintiff was attempting to explain why she relinquished custody of her 9-month old child to the grandparents. Her reason sounded legitimate to me, but he didn't want to hear it. Even when the plaintiff explained that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer, he did not show much compassion for this. At one point, he said no one feels sorry for her because she gave away her child as an infant. The child, which was born a male, was now a transgender female who, according to the mother, had lied to a married couple about his/her parents having been killed in a car crash and needing money to buy clothes for the funeral. The judge never addressed the defendant's alleged crime of obtaining money by false pretenses. His ire towards the plaintiff was extreme.

probably the best of the TV judge shows

Out of all the judge TV shows produced during the 90s and 00's this one is probably the best. He has the best combination of entertainment value, compassion, and legal competency. The thing that impressed me the most about Judge Mathis was his ability to cut through the BS stories and lies and get to the truth, often tripping up litigants and tricking them into revealing the truth. His background growing up in the streets often showed when dealing with druggies, con men/women, and other shady types trying to pull one over on him. His compassion and conviction often showed when lecturing kids going down the wrong path, and challenging their negligent parents to do their jobs. Unlike shows like Judge Judy which I found to be too negative and cold he often lightened up the mood by joking with litigants adding more entertainment value (after all it is a TV show).

Compared to other judges like ... Judge Joe Brown (too old fashion and dull), Judge Judy (too mean), Judge Hatchett (too wimpy), Judge Milian (People's Court) (too loud) .. I think Judge Mathis was just right.

I Love Judge Mathis!!

Judge Mathis is Awesome!!~I Love how down to earth and realistic he is with the litigants. I know that his courtroom is not as professional as some of the others, but he is Kind, compassionate and a Real Person. He might ask questions that you wouldn't expect. But, that his nature, and I think that is what makes him stand out from the other court TV judges. I think that sometimes he really just wants to know a little more. I watch Judge Judy and The People's Court, but Judge Mathis is my favorite. Judge Judy is just plain MEAN, sometimes funny, but I'm scared of her. Judge Milan, is OK, sometimes a little too cheesy for me. JM has a wide variety of litigants with a wide variety of problems. He handles them all well, with respect (unless they disrespect him) and fairly. Detroit should be So proud to have him! Thanks JM!!

Ignorant and bias

Judge Mathis is probably one of the worst judges on tv. He seems to choose a side before ever hearing testimony, he is constantly insulting the litigants and often jumps on a soapbox to talk about himself every chance he gets. His arrogance is beyond atrocious. I can't imagine anyone wanting to bring a case before this imitation judge unless there is a big check involved.

If you want someone to humiliate people for their wrongs of the past watch Judge Mathis.

This Judge enjoys the pains and sorrows of others because he knows; that if you are willing to come on his show. Then you deserve to laugh at in spite of your social and environmental up bring. This show is good. If you like our society to keep losing respect for people who are not as strong as this Judge is to all kinds of addictions. Some people enjoy talking down to people in public because of their bad choices. Judge Mathis has came a long way in life, like many others they forgot the pains and struggles of world as people of minority groups. He is not able to guide or educate people by being on television. So, let him keep make his money so he can keep his way of thinking about life.

UNPROFESSIONAL COMMENTS

AS A PERSON WHO HAS WORKED IN THE COURT SYSTEM FOR 24 YEARS JUDGE MATHIS IS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL AND ASSUMING TO REFER TO A MAN WITH MANY WOMEN AS A "PIMP". THIS IS EVEN WORSE WHEN THE YOUNG WOMAN THIS MAN IS POSSIBLY HER FATHER SEEKING A DNA TEST TO CONFIRM OR DENY IT. THIS DEFENDANT MAYBE THE PLAINTIFF'S FATHER WHO DATED HER MOTHER.NOW HE IMPLIES HER MOTHER WAS A PROSTITUTE!

Very insensitive, careless, inconsiderate Judge

I've seen this Judge more passionate when his younger days as a TV judge. He actually gave fair judgments. LISTENED CAREFULLY to each person. Also he wasn't really concerned about being a comedian, and entertaining a national audience to make himself appear more likeable, and to get better ratings. I used to watch judge mathis, many years ago. But I stopped, I can't take him , because he tries very hard to make himself seem more smarter, than what he is by not thoroughly listening to each person's case. Keep in mind, these people took off from work, and have serious issues, and in most cases will have relationships permanently damaged by the way he handles those cases. He is a unfair judge, and I wouldn't miss the day, when they take him off air. I hate how he tries more hard to make people laugh, than listening and giving a fair verdict
